BorTunCo’s beginnings stem from its founder’s desire to create a better tool. The creation of the original slurry boring machine took undaunted determination and continual drive. This attitude resulted in a patent that allowed BorTunCo to manufacture the first slurry boring machines and travel throughout the county building trenchless crossings with its unrivaled technology.
Times change and patents expire, and that is where BorTunCo’s innovative attitude has guided the company through a fluctuating marketplace. Since the slurry boring machine, the company has introduced several industrial innovations.
The Forward Mud Reamer revitalized the use of forward cutters by combining a mud plug and forward reamer. This tool allows the operator to remove the cuttings from a slurry bored hole as the stems are retracted.
Although BorTunCo has primarily been a trenchless company, it has not limited its inventions to the trenchless market. The Rocsaw was the original oversized trenching machine designed to cut through the Alaskan permafrost during the construction of the Alaskan pipeline.
BorTunCo’s most current innovations are in the area of reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC) installation. Whether it is mechanized cutting, mechanized loading or mechanized spoil removal, BorTunCo continues to dream and manufacture better tools to increase production and decrease labor intensity. We believe these creations will lead us forward in the same way the original slurry boring machines have lead us to today.
