Boring Technology

Boring Technology consists of several methods each designed to cut a hole through the earth and install smooth, round pipe through the hole. The initial step with each of the techniques is to establish a path for the bore. The drill, auger or pilot is then advanced from the launch shaft to the exit shaft along this path. Guidance methods vary depending on the bore method selected.

Ground conditions, the amount of ground cover above the hole, the size and length of the bore, and the presence of ground water must each be assessed to determine which type of bore will be most successful. While the physical process of creating the hole can be similar, the machines and tooling required for different types of bores varies greatly.
